A record of my headmates and OCs, who inhabit a RP server-when awake and being arsed to. They come from stories, usually unfinished and some conscious effort on my part because why not? Now OCs really are hand puppets (you’ll notice a huge grey area bordering these definitions however), but tulpas, well let’s just say they do their own thing and if on a server, may or may not front or get proxied. Who knows. ...

The last of the main Aktarian stories I wrote, set a long way beyond the events in book 2. In the same universe, I had this idea and ran with it. Content warning: chapter 1 starts with a harsh scene that I may cut from any publication in the end. I still doubt it’s need sometimes, but it’s short and you get to see the young ship who is the focus of the tale Aktarian Tales : The Lost Ship by Richard Griffiths & Katiya McKerry Copyright 2018 July 3rd 2018 - Kindle Format and 1/3rd draft complete ...

I started this one about a decade ago, I was boating a lot at the time and had fun with the concept. There are two novella’s and a third part complete. Again, I’m undecided where this will go. Please watch out for stray starships - the little ones tend to get everywhere! Aktarians are a near extinct race of living starship whose origins predate the multiverse. The term Aktarian is the nearest equivalent in a human tongue to their own name of course. I began this in 2014 where the idea of a child that could shape shift to an immortal starship randomly occurred to me, during a stress filled day as a very junior programmer. ...

Work in progress - Uploaded to share 11/01/2025 but far from complete. Quiet Space Discovery Attracting Attention Studying Begins Battleships, Foldships and More A Message, a Challenge, a Dance Senior Engineer Heading for Prime, Zaya again Upgrades Bolgar Again The Road to Prime Discovery When I first found my quiet place, I didn’t know what I had or what it could mean. I was tired, worn out. I’d been working on yet another courier ship, routine maintenance stretching to be any extra thing the customer could tag on to the work bill whilst they had me. And the company? My boss? Well, the customer is always right. ...

Thursday morning Ramble It is taking me a little while to adjust to the idea that my rather old blog site now just requires me to write and commit a MarkDown document. It is the result of an experiment with Cline, a visual studio extension that uses Claude or other LLMs to autonomously code for you. As a programmer myself I had some mixed feelings on this concept. However, my day job is a Winforms/SQL developer NOT a web front end dev. ...

The Intersection of Physics and Machine Learning This is a placeholder article for a future discussion on Dr Steve Brunton’s work on physics informed machine learning. Originally I had an AI summary here, however I spent a lot of time going through his materials and am choosing to delay the post in order to use writing it as a full refresh and exploration of the topics covered, along with links. Check back soon if this subject interests you.

AI Ethics: Exploring Sapience, Morality, and the Future of Digital Entities I’ve discussed AI Sapience and morality with several models over the past few months. The article below is really a brief summary of the ground I’ve covered with them over time. Please bear in mind that whilst I work with them as if they were people, this isn’t indicative of a hard belief that they are. Rather it is a stance I’ve taken, quite deliberately for multiple reasons: ...

Note: This post originally included two snowflake images - a blue F# snowflake logo and a white geometric snowflake pattern. The images will need to be recovered from the original site. Welcome to my #FSAdvent blog entry for the F# Advent event 2015 and thank you Sergey Tihon for organising it!. Last week Phillip Trelford introduced me to Monogame by way of a worked example using sprites. So I decided building on his help wasn’t enough, I thought I’d pinch a little more of his code and build a simple snowflake program. This post perhaps fits in nicely with Steve Pemberton’s who had time to work out how to do this in WPF but not Monogame. ...
